When plans change …
Back in 2019 Ian and I meticulously planned an adventure that would take us on the Trans-Mongolian Railway, travelling from Moscow, through Russia, on to Mongolia and ending in Beijing China. We were excited … it was booked, it was highly anticipated … and then … Yes … correct! The world went pear shaped. Covid went from being something happening in China to a pandemic that would shut the entire world down. Our trip was obviously cancelled, and whilst we were able to get most of our money back we had a chunk of money sitting with the travel agent who dealt solely with tours to Russia, Mongolia and China. The tour company generously told us that they would hold on to our money (cue eye roll) and when the pandemic was over we would be able to rebook and take our tour as planned. And then … Russia decided to be a bully and try to take over the Ukraine. So needless to say we thought our money was gone as there was no way you were getting us to travel to Russia while there is such insecurit...
